Romans 15:14-21. The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power – Psalm 97(98):1-4. Luke 16:1-8.
My duty is to bring the Good News from God to the pagans!
In our reading from Romans we hear Paul stepping away from the complex theology of his letter to speak about his mission to proclaim the Gospel. It is fascinating that he understands this task as essentially priestly, although only as a participation in Christ’s priesthood. While most of us do not share Paul’s special task to proclaim Jesus’ name where it has not been heard, we are certainly called to proclaim it in our circles and beyond. Today especially there are many who have heard Jesus’ name, and even have spent a long time in contact with the Church, who have never really had the Gospel proclaimed to them. In our lives we have countless opportunities, in small and large ways, through witness as well as proclamation, to share the Good News of Jesus, and in doing so live out the priestly character bestowed in our baptism.
