Romans 16:3-9, 16, 22-27. I will praise your name for ever, Lord – Psalm 144(145):2-5, 10-11. Luke 16:9-15.
May I prefer to please God
Lord, in this puzzling teaching you draw me to think of two things: first, that nothing I have is really mine, what I hold today is given to me to look after and share with others; second, that I be trustworthy, that I keep my word, and that I be honest in my dealings with others. Let me not project myself more than who I really am, let me be humble about my limitations. Jesus, this is how you were even at the cost of the favour of the influential members of society. Like you, may I prefer to please God than to accumulate worldly goods or esteem.
