Daniel 12:1-3. Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope – Psalm 15(16):5, 8-11. Hebrews 10:11-14, 18. Mark 13:24-32.

Begin becoming who God created you to be

Today’s readings are a reminder to not become complacent with life’s distractions and to remember each day is a gift. Sometimes life reminds me that my life has an end date, a close call in traffic, the nightly news report, the doctor ordering more tests, the death of a friend or family member. Then, the phrase ‘Life is short’ reverberates in my mind. During these times, an important question to ask myself is: Am I becoming the person God hoped I’d become in the time he gave me on Earth? If not, rather than worry, why don’t I begin becoming who God created me to be?Lord, if today or many years from now we meet, I hope to be the person you had in mind when you formed me in my mother’s womb. Please help me to become that person. Soften me where I am hardened. Release me where I am chained. Show me where I need to forgive. Reveal to me where I need to change. So that I am ready when I hear Your voice.
