Jesus seeks the discretion of those whom he heals. These are people of faith, that is why they have been healed. Yet, despite the stern warning, ‘they talked about him all over the countryside.’ They are being, of course, disobedient. But can we blame them?If we have had an experience of Jesus, if we have experienced his healing touch in our lives, how can we do other than to share the one we encounter?St Francis Xavier wanted to share the treasure he had been gifted, and he did it well beyond his immediate countryside. His travels are legendary, through India, Malaya, Japan, to the shores of China. The heroics of that travel should underline and not outshine the fact that it was done to offer the light and salvation of Jesus. How can I share the light and salvation I have received?
