It sounds like a call to all of us.Artist Ben Quilty felt helpless to assist the people of Afghanistan following its fall to the Taliban. He knew veterans who had served there, and the bonds of friendship formed between veterans and translators. He had seen how Afghan women had thrived as educators, political leaders, musicians, journalists, athletes. With the departure of Coalition forces, so many have been left behind in grave danger. Women face a life in the shadows, with girls refused access to education.Ben discovered that UNHCR has the most pressing mandate to help, on the ground in Kabul and throughout Afghanistan. They will be with those who have fled the country and end up in refugee camps. He started fundraising and Australians responded generously.
